There are no laws about dating, however there are laws about sexual contact

Texas Law :

  • minor's age of consent is 14 with a 3 yr gap meaning that their partner has to be at least 14 but not older than 3 yrs apart
  • 17 is the legal age of consent to have sex with anybody that's 17 or older
  • 14 yr old can have sex with 14.15.16.17 only
  • 15 yr old can have sex with 14.15.16.17.18 only
  • 16 yr old can have sex with 14.15.16.17.18.19 only
  • 17 yr old can have sex with someone at least 14 and older
  • 18 yr old can have sex with someone at least 15 and older
  • 19 yr old can have sex with someone at least 16 and older

but minors parents can disapprove the relationship and you can't do anything about it until your partner is at least 17 also

Many think that there is a law stating the age limits/requirements for dating, but there is not. There is, however, a legal age of consent that varies from state to state. In general the age of consent is 16, but varies and can be older.

It is not illegal for a 15 year old girl to DATE an 18 year old male, with or without parental consent. But, if the relationship was to get sexual, the male could get prison time. And if the parents are against it, they are likely to bring it to the attention of the authorities. So, if the relationship goes further than "dating" then yes, it is illegal, with imprisonment consequences. Even if the relationship weren't to get physical, could the parents not just tell the court that it has been physical even though it hasn't? Would there be any way for them to prove that it has been physical even if the couple were to deny it? What would the court most likely say?

Whoever answered the previous time was wrong.

It is illegal for an adult to have any sexual relations (as defined in Texas Penal Code section 21.11) if either party is under the age of 17.

There is an "affirmative defense" Claus that goes along with this. If either party is under the age of 17, then the age difference between both parties can be no greater than 3 years (to the day).

As long as your age difference is not greater than 3 years (to the day) then nothing you do would be illegal. You're saying one party is 15 and the other is 18, but you need to make sure it's not more than 3 years to the day. That's very, very important.

Morally, I think you should reconsider. An 18 year old has little business with a 15 year old, because the emotional/psychological differences are significant.

There are no laws against dating, just regarding sex where the minor must have reached the age of consent, and of course the minors parents have to agree to you two seeing each other. What an adult have to remember when it comes to dating a minor is that it's real easy for anyone to call and report statutory rape and then you have to defend yourself. It doesn't always work.

Parents permission does not allow one to violate the law. It is not against the law as there are no laws about what age you have to be to date, there are laws about sexual activity depending on the state. That is way too young to risk even a hint of impropriety, it could ruin the older one's life. And there really isn't a reason for someone in high school to be dating someone that young. In most places you have to be at least 16 to consent, if not 17 or 18.

It is legal for a 15 and 18 year old to date, but any sexual contact would be illegal, as one of the two people are under the age of consent.
