ANOTHER VIEW: NO, it is not strictly against the law to do so, officers are trained to take verbal abuse (and do so regularly), but as a realistic suggestion - think it over carefully before you do it! There are any number of laws, offenses, and charges

available to the officer which could be applied in many circumstances.

To a point, it is illegal in some states as verbal assault or disturbing the piece if they aren't on your private property. It follows under whatever the state puts it under, But the plus side is, in a court of law, if you can prove that pig, in the dictionary is another word for cop, then you can win. They have been trying to get Webster to take that out for a while because of the fact, in court, it stands. But you shouldn't call a cop any names in the first place, just let them do there job.
