Most of the time, it is not illegal to forward email. However, there could be places, and circumstances, where it is illegal to forward email. At work, it might be illegal to forward email. It might be illegal to forward an email that has spam, or porno, or a virus in it. It all depends on where you are when you forward the email, who you forward the email to, and what the email contains.

∙ 9y agoIt depends on that business' policies. Most frown on forwarding emails unless the policy states this is an acceptablr practice. Ask your Supervisor or Boss.

I think it is unethical to edit an email and resend under the original sender's name, however I cannot determine if it was illegal. Case in point, send boss an email; boss removes a paragraph of email and forwards email to another company with my signature.
