Yes, unless he/she owns the house.
You need to check with the landlord about that. You cant just change the locks on a property that you do not own.
A husband has no legal obligation to support his mother-in-law.

If one spouse moves out the remaining spouse may benefit from having the house all to him/her self, either to enjoy the privacy or to have wild parties on the weekends, one never knows.
Only if their name is not on the property deeds, if it is then it is legally half theirs also and you can not lock them out. Only the sheriff can lock you both out by the bank
No, if you look at any lease with a 'military clause', it only applies to Permanent Change of Station moves (PCS Orders). It does not cover deployments as those as not PCS moves & you will not be let out of the lease.
NO....she has no standing after she moves out. Change the locks if she refuses to give her key back. However if her name is on the lease and she continues to pay half the rent then she would have rights to return. If her name is off the lease and her belongings are gone, she pays no rent and has no agreement with you that it would be OK for her to have a key and return at will...Then it is time for her to let go. In all cases after i have let friends stay with me they refuse to give up the key and expect to come and go as they please. That's not how it works. THEY NO LONGER LIVE THERE.I don't argue.I just change the locks.
