I'm not a doctor so if you need one you should consult one, but I have always heard that a risen lump on the head is better than an indented one. I believe this is because if it is risen the swelling is on the outside and not the inside of the head.
A lump in the bicep muscle itself is likely a severe sprain or a bruise. It makes sense to see your health care provider for a diagnosis, however, because it's more likely that the lump is not in the muscle itself.
No.That will make it hurt more.

Contusion is more serious type of head injury than the cerebral concussion. In case of concussion, you do not have any visible injury in CAT scan. The loss of consciousness in momentary. In case of contusion the damage can be seen in CAT scan. The loss of consciousness is usually sustained. The small blood vessels are ruptured usually. You may get the oedema of the brain tissue.
A contusion, or bruise, occurs when small capillaries leak blood into tissue under the skin. To stop bleeding, the body sends platelets to "clot" the blood. This small clot acts like a door so the capillary won't leak more. As the capillary heals, the lump goes away. As the body reabsorbs blood from the tissues, the bruise heals. For the first 48-72 hours, you can use ice, 10-15 minutes on, then off... several times a day. Then, switch to moist heat, such as a warm washcloth.
A bruise is a contusion. This medical word sounds, and the bruise itself often looks, much more serious than it actually is. A bruise or contusion occurs when small superficial blood vessels are injured, allowing blood to seep into surrounding tissues. If there is no underlying injury, such as a fracture, superficial bruises heal within 7-10 days. If there is trauma or fracture, bruising can linger for weeks to months.

It is called a bruise or contusion, and is caused by blood vessels bursting under the skin due to the impact, forming a bulge. They happen more easily on the head because there is less padding, the vessels are pushed against the skull on impact, with little subcutaneous fat or other tissues in the way. This is the reason why they are also more prominent, with the bone directly behind them, they can't do anything except bulge outwards. A thigh bruise on the other hand has soft tissues to push against inside the leg.
