Sounds to me that you have a Well oiled machine, I would say that is normal, especially if you have a high volume oil pump installed (Melling, Etc). 40psi at idle is darn good, 70psi always runs the risk of blowing oil pass the bearings, If this is a Stock application, Be Happy, should get you 200,000 miles or more w/ regular oil changes >2500 to 3500 miles.

The oil pressure sending unit on my 1997 silverado is on the top of the engine behind the intake manifold. It took a while to find it.I had to climb on top of the engine and look down to the block up near the firewall I was having eratic oil pressure readings and the sending unit was the problem.
You need to replace the gauge cluster... I hate to say that, but that is the only fix. It is common on the silverado series trucks as well. This was verified by 2 mechanics and the Chevy dealer.
there is less air pressure and the air is thinner so you need to breath in more of it then normal
On top of engine, way in back, drivers side, next to distributor. You will have to climb in there with a light to see it.

It is on the top right rear corner of the engine, just behind the intake manifold. You will have to climb up and lean over the top of the engine to see it.
You will have to climb up and lean over the top of the engine and look at the back of the engine/intake manifold to see it. V-8 engine will be on the right top side of the engine. V-6 will be on the left top side of the engine just behind the back of the intake. They are hard to see.
Under the hood, back top side of engine, just to the driver's side of the distributor. You will have to climb in there to see it.

It is on the top right rear side of the engine. It's about 3 inches long and has a electric connector hooked to it. You will have to climb up on and lean over the engine to see it. It is hard to see.
Its easily seen if you climb under your truck. If you know what your looking for its right there.
