Is it normal if you got your period and its brown but the tampon is a dark brown with some string in it and the period date is longer than usual?

Yes, this is normal.
Brown flow is 'old blood', blood that has taken time to leave your body so gone brown - just like blood would turn brown from a cut on your body - it just means your flow is light. Your cycle length will change all the time, this is normal too. You should not be using tampons when your flow is light like this, as well as risking discomfort this puts you at higher risk of Toxic shock syndrome.

All that hangs out is the tampon string for easy removal, that is if you use a tampon with a string.
