A:Yes. This is possible, at least in part. Dennis R MacDonald (The Homeric Epics and the Gospel of Mark) provides credible evidence that Mark was strongly influenced by the Iliad and the Odyssey. Sometimes, in my view, MacDonald goes too far in seeking to establish some more obscure parallels, but he does seem to have established that much of Mark's Gospel was inspired by the stories in Homer's epics. Since we also now know that the Gospels of Matthew, Luke and John were based, directly or indirectly, on Mark we can indeed say that Greek mythology provided an important source for the gospel stories.
