yes, but the the colors will not mix because even if the sire is a yellow lab and the dam is a black lab the puppies will come out with one of the 3 varying colors: Black, Polar white-red fox aka a yellow lab, Chocolate, or Silver. The silver labs however are rare. Usually the pups colors will reflect the sire and dam's colors.

∙ 12y agoYes, they can. In fact, one of my friends owns a Labradoodle. The first mention of the name 'Labradoodle' was in 1955, in a book called 'Into the Water Barrier' when an author tried to describe his part Poodle, part Labrador Retriever dog. But, it was much better known in 1988, when the Labradoodle was mentioned in 'Guide Dogs Victoria'. Labradoodles do not shed as much as a Labrador Retriever, but usually have the same size. They mostly resemble a Poodle, with curly fur and they are hypoallergenic. They are great swimmers, as Poodles were originally bred as hunting dogs in Germany and would swim into the water to retrieve a shot down bird. They are energetic as puppies. Some Labradoodles have been used as working dogs as Labrador Retrievers are most common as working dogs. They can also be called 'Australian Labradoodles' as in 1988, like I mentioned earlier, Labradoodles were advertised in 'Guide Dogs Victoria' in Australia. Temperament will vary, especially because Poodle temperaments will vary. I should know, I have 2 poodles, one is a nasty grump and the other is a friendly, cuddly dog.

If you breed a Yellow Labrador and a Chocolate Labrador they will produce solid chocolate puppies and solid Yellow puppies and Black puppies with the exception of a few white markings. No matter what color labs you breed they will always be pure unless you have a mixed breed or a completely different breed as the mother or father. Then it's up to the traits of that other breed.
