Is it possible to offer a settlement to the finance company so you can try to get a charge-off taken off or is this against the law for them to do once it has been reported that way?

You can word your settlement OFFER any way you want. It will be up to the lender whether they agree to it or not. It will not come off completley do not waste your time.
