The above answer is actually incorrect, Yes you can tell the sex from 12 weeks onwards if the sonographer has researched and knows how to use the nub theory which is basically the angle of the dangle, every baby has a nub that does look like a willy up until around the 16th week but it is the angle of the nub which allows you to determine gender for boys the nub has to be pointing up on more than a 30 degree angle and girls lower, the girls nub tends to be flat and in line with the spine there is lots of information on the 'nub theory' which claims to be 95% accurate at 12/13 weeks and in my own personal experience having two little girls and seeing there nubs both me and sonographer agreed they were girls hope this helps :)

It truly depends on the type of ultrasound equipment used by your physician. Most equipment can determine sex by the 16th week of pregnancy. Many newer machines, which show clearer pictures, can show the sex much earlier. It is not impossible to tell the sex of a fetus at 15 weeks. Just remember that ultrasounds are not always 100% accurate and that determining sex depends on the cooperation of your baby!

You will have a boy if:

  • baby's heart rate is under 140 beats per minute.
  • you are carrying low and in front
  • your urine is bright yellow
  • your right breast is bigger than your left
  • you don't experience any morning sickness in the first trimester

You will have a girl if:

  • your urine is clear
  • your left breast is bigger than your right
  • you sleep on your right side

How early can you see gender of fetus?

I knew I was having a boy at 14 weeks. It's all dependent on how your baby is positioned. My sister wasn't able to tell what her first kid was because she (the fetus) had her legs crossed during the ultrasound. :-) It's also a lot easier (for obvious reasons) to tell if it's a boy than if it's a girl. I found out that I was having a boy at 15 weeks!!!! But it just depends on how the baby cooperates with the ultrasound tech. The earliest a doctor will have a radiologist determine gender is about 12 weeks. Most wait until week 16 through week 20. Determining gender by radiology is not an exact science. A fetus could be in a position where it is difficult to see the genitals. Your radiologist may attempt to coax the fetus into another position where it is more visible. You could also consume something containing sugar, such as juice, (no caffeine!) which will make the fetus somewhat more active. Amniocentesis, if you must have one completed, is fool-proof in determining gender of the fetus through chromosomal testing.

How long does fetus with no heartbeat stay in womb at 10 weeks?

It depends. My baby died at 8 weeks and I found out at 12 weeks through an ultrasound, and it was removed by D&C

Can a ultrasound be ten weeks off if you think your 12 weeks and ultrasound reads your 22 weeks?

Ultrasounds are fairly accurate - a fetus at 12 weeks is very small. A 22 week fetus is fairly large. They measure how big bones are, and the distance around the head. There is no mistaking a 12 weeker for a 22 weeker.

How long can a dead fetus remain in the womb?

Some fetus' need to be removed, but most will come out (if before 12 weeks) usually after 12 weeks it will be removed, it is very dangerous that the fetus is still in the mother, this can cause blood poisoning which can lead to death of the mother if not treated fast. Although, in rare cases fetuses have been known to remain for years and even decades.

Can rabbits determined their siblings and not try to breed?

No, at 12 to 16 weeks of age commercial rabbit breeds enter "puberty" and can become sexually active. It is not uncommon for siblings who are not sorted by gender by this time to breed and it can result in offspring. However, regardless of gender, rabbits will mount each other to display dominance.

Can you determine the sex of a baby when you are 4 weeks pregnant?

The earliest time that the physician could tell the gender of the baby is at least 12 weeks. At 12 weeks the genital tubercule must have started developing already.

Is is uncommon to not hear a babies heart beat at 12 weeks?

No. The fetus is so small at that point sometimes it is hard to detect the heartbeat to hear it.
