Planes do not stop in the air because if they do not move forward at a sufficient speed, they will fall to the ground. If for some reason it were to become necessary for a plane to stop in the air, and if we had time to plan this in advance, I would arrange for the plane to be tethered to a huge zeppelin flying just above it. Then it could stop in the air, and hang from the zeppelin.

A practical way to answer the question by thinking about it:
If it were possible to stop aircraft in the air, then why do you suppose all of that
land and money would be spent building and paving mile-long runways ?
All aircraft require continual motion of some of their parts, to keep them aloft.
A plane can not completely stop in the air unless it is a special type of plane. Normal passenger or commercial planes as well as military planes can not stop completely in mid air though some helicopters can stop in mid air.
Depends on the aircraft and its use. And as a paying passenger, no.
No it cannot. Even with forward momentum, it could not be said to have stopped.
You can't stop in the air. If the plane goes too slowly, it loses the air friction that is holding it up, and it falls. You have to be on the ground to stop the plane.
no
if a plane stopped in mid air it would just fall and probely not because it would be going to fast for it to fast to just stop!
At the moment it is the Boeing 747-473 (747-400) operated by Air India. However, Air India placed orders for more than 50 aircraft in 2006 (most have been delivered) including the Boeing 787. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, when it arrives in Air India in late December 2011, will be the fastest passenger plane in India.
No.
i would have to say the concord (currenty baned because "wastes to much fule)
Yes, airline is a noun; a word for a company that operates passenger air plane service, a thing.
It depends on what aircraft. passenger planes (b737 etc.) have air tanks fitted so the air conditioning cycles the air. the bad thing about that is that if someone breathes illness, then other will get it.
The plane that Reagan used is a Boeing 707 (passenger aircraft) , refitted for special use. It has the air force designation of VC-137 and called SAM 27000 as a presidential plane.
