∙ 10y agoA computer power supply takes power from the house supply at 120 v or 240 v and gives outputs at voltages needed by the computer, always dc and usually mainly 12 v and 5v but other voltages as well. PC power supplies are rated at 200 or 300 Watts but less for laptops/notebooks.
