You may be able to work as a patient liaison, nursing assistant, certified medical assistant, or more closely related to LPN, an authorized unlicensed assistant. all of these titles do require certification from the board of health but provide helpful information and technical skill that will help ease your transition into nursing. Oh, and to answer your question, no you cannot work as a nurse without first receiving license from you state board of nursing.

You do not get a RN (Registered Nurse) degree. To become a RN you earn an associate degree in nursing then take the state nursing exam. If you pass you are then a RN. You can also get a 4 year degree in nursing, which will make you even more marketable. Then, you would be an RN with a BSN. You still have to take the state nursing exam.
