Would a conscientious objector who received 3year probation in 1967 still have this on his record?

Something is missing from this question. Being a "Conscientious Objecter" is NOT a criminal offense, and the charge would not appear on your criminal record. Is there some other offense that you committed that would give you the 3 year probation sentence?

Who were the conscientious objectors?

Conscientious objectors, were a class (category) of men, who when INDUCTED (conscripted/drafted) into military service, would express their beliefs that it was wrong to kill other human beings, and they themselves would prefer that the US government not put them into a situation that might call for them to have to kill or harm another human being. The majority of Conscientious Objectors accepted induction into the military, and were assigned non-combat duties (rear jobs) such as clerks, religious dutes (the Chaplin service within the military), but the vast majority of them served in the military's MEDICAL CORPS. Which unfortunately, placed many of them in harm's way, when they became MEDIC's on the battlefield's of Vietnam. The status of "Conscientious Objector" may have also reached the level of abuse, by resisting the "draft" as conscientious objectors. That status may not have been valid (for avoiding military service to their country) for the vast majority of Conscientious objectors, as the military did (and still does) have more than enough jobs (MOS's-Military Occupational Specialties) for them to maintain their beliefs of not harming their fellow human beings, while still serving their country. Consequently, many conscientious objectors were looked upon as draft evaders.

How long is a spell?

You can have a short spell or a long spell. e.g. * My husband had a short spell in Egypt during the war, when he was in the army. * His brother had a long spell in prison for being a conscientious objector. However, a spell is usually a short period of time. e.g. We had a spell of bad weather during our spring break.

Evaluate American involvement in Vietnam from the point of view what a hawk a dove a conscientious objector and a soldier?

Many hawks were veterans from either the Korean War, WWII, or men who were just simply veterans of the US armed forces. These men had served their country, and really couldn't see what all the complaining was about. The hawks would say, "we fought the Germans, the Japanese, the North Koreans, the Red Chinese, and we whipped them all, these guys ain't any different...we've got better weapons now, so let's get the job done!" The Dove's said, "...there's got to be another way...a more peaceful way..." (Not realizing that the peaceful ways had already been tried & were answered with bullets! e.g. The definition of war "is the obtaining of a political goal (peacefully), by other than political ways (by force of arms)" The true conscientious objector was a "man of the cloth", or a man in the clergy. The military had much need of chaplin service personnel, medical personnel, food service personnel, all of which a conscientious objector could fulfill. This particular "title" caught on quick with the draft dodgers, and became so wide spread, that it got to the point where the government had to relax the standards for conscientious objectors (make it easier for men to qualify). For the US Marines, Sailors, Airman, Soldiers, and Coast Guardsmen; they were drafted (or going to be). They knew their point of view meant nothing, to either correct, or help the situation they were in (being the military). So they just did their duty as best as they could, and then honorably discharged when their time was up.
