It depends on how close to them you are. If it's your best friend or your relative, it's ok to say. But don't say something threatining like "You BETTER send me something!". But if you don't know them well I think it's better not to ask.
Well, bringing postcards have already become a tradition for many vacationers. But I agree on how close you are to whom you're asking. Anyway, postcards nowadays do not cost that much.
