Make sure the can is open! If you don't, steam can build up and explode the can destroying the oven and possibly causing injury or fire. You can heat a can in a pan of water or in the oven, DO NOT use the microwave!

The leaching of BPA into the can's contents is currently (as of early 2010) being investigated as a potential health hazard. Heating the contents of a can under direct heat may likely accelerate leaching or produce additional toxic compounds. In relation, studies have shown that the coatings used in non-stick cookware release toxic chemicals when heated above a certain temperature. To be safe you should not eat out of any can that is coated on the inside. Potential risks include cancer, neurological disorders, sexual dysfuntion and renal disease to name a few.
