No as they are two different species with different needs. The Majority of reptiles do much better in their own environment, alone. The stress put on animals that are caged together is high and the end results is usually one kills the other.

Tokays and goldies are usually to be housed together only by experienced reptile keepers. They will show signs of stress if they are not happy. These signs usually include: Dark coloration's, Fighting, and can be distinguished by: tails and toe pads can be damaged, Croaks and barks throughout the day. Or change in routine. scales can be ripped from the skin and take months to heal. Toe pads will never "grow back" sor-to-say. The animal may not be able to stick.

In the best case scenario: A female tokay (G. Gekko) and a female goldie (G. Ulikovskii) will mind one an-others company. Maybe even share hides together. A really good way to ensure this is to handle your geckos. Both the tokays and the goldies have bad reputations, do not like to be handled and tend to bite. Get them out of that instinct and they do act different in the terrarium. A little more sociable.

I have kept golden geckos before (probably not in the best of conditions, but hey, I was in second grade) and each one has a personal temperament. One was vicious and the other docile, so its a luck of the draw thing. I kept two in a 15 gallon and there was little fighting after a week, but I'm pretty sure I just got lucky. Using a bigger tank (around 55gal) would be better if you are going to mix, and I would have an extra tank in case you need to separate. make sure to have plenty of hiding spaces, and good luck!

No, the leopard gecko comes from the deserts of southeastern Asia. Living in temperatures that reach 105F with next to no humidity. The Panther gecko (pictus gecko) come from Madagascar with temperatures ranging from 75-85F with humidity levels of 50-80%. These two species would never ever come face to face in the natural habitat, therefore as hobbyist's, who are trying to mimic their natural environment cannot allow these two species to co exist.

Is it safe to grow marijuana in a leopard gecko habitat?

It may not harm the gecko (who does not eat plants) but it is not safe for the growers. Even where medicinal quantities are allowed to be grown, some growers may be prosecuted or have their plants confiscated. A leopard gecko habitat is a dry and arid area. The temperatures should be an ambient 80-90 with a basking spot of up to 95-98 F. These animals do not enjoy mistings but preffer a bowl of water. The marijuana plant would not be able to sustain life in a leopard gecko habitat.

What kinds of lizards are safe?

Leopard Gecko, Collared Lizards, Bearded Dragon, Blue-tongue Skinks, and Savanna Monitors

Is a leopard gecko good by it self?

By "on its own", if you mean in the wild, yes. They live in the wild about 8-9 years. But if you mean alone in their cage with no other geckos, they can, but they are happier alone rather than with 2 or more. If you are having 2 or more in the same cage, be sure that it is not 2 males, because they will fight. only multiple femals or a male and a female are safe together. (CAUTION: If you hav a male and a femal together in the same cage, they might mate and you might end up with up to 12 new Leo hatchlings!)

Is sand bad for leopard geckos?

YES! Leopard geckos do not naturally live on sand and when they eat their food they lunge at it, eating some sand accidentally. This causes problems in the stomach which can lead to your leopard gecko dying.

What plants growing in nz are safe to put in your leopard gecko terrarium?

The leopard gecko is a species that comes from an arid/dry area. The minimal shrubbery that their landscape consists of are nothing similar to that of New Zealand's. In order to sustain a plant from New Zealand, their would need soil, lots of water and humidity and in all truth, that's not what these geckos are custom to. It would be the best solution to purchase fake / plastic plants to decorate you leopard geckos terrarium.

Can female and female Leopard Geckos live together?

Yes, but two males is a bad idea. and unless you want baby gecko's, no male or female. However, make sure they get along. i had 2 females and they fought alot. one had to be put down as she stopped eating, which the vet blamed on the other one stopping it. Any danger with gecko's is cage mates accidentally standing on eachothers tails. be aware of thses facts before getting another gecko.

Is it safe to have a pet gecko at your house?

Of course.

When do you feed a high yellow baby leopard gecko?

Feed your baby leopard gecko every other day, as many bugs as it will eat at one time. Remove all of the remaining insects when it stops hunting and eating them. If you don't, they could harrass or even nibble on and injure your gecko. Baby leopard geckos eat 1/4" crickets and small mealworms. Both should be dusted with calcium powder. They also love phoenix worms and small silk worms, which are very healthy, and enjoy an occasional treat of wax worms or butter worms. Take care not to feed an inside larger than the space between the gecko's eyes, or it could choke or injure its mouth trying to eat it. Be sure that you have a basking spot on one side of the cage that is exactly 90F, and the cool side should be at 80F. This is important because lizards must move around to change their body temperature--they need to be the right temperature to digest food, so you have to give them areas to get warmer and cooler. Leopard geckos also need a small shallow water dish, and a small butter tub with a round hole cut in the lid that they can easily climb into and out of. Put a later of damp moss inside the tub, and change the moss often to prevent it from souring or growing mold. This is called a humid hide. Put it on the cool side of the cage. Put an ordinary hide cage on the hot side of the cage. Geckos need to be able to hide to feel safe and secure.

How many species of gecko?

The number of geckos in the world are not known, but it is safe to assume that there are millions.

Do geckos like apples?

You should feed your gecko every night with six crickets or three mealworms no wider than the space between their eyes. Occaisionally you can feed them chopped up carrots or romaine lettuce, but I've never heard of apples, so I wouldn't try it -just to be on the safe side.

Can a leopard gecko live without a heating pad but with just a light?

Leopard geckos should be given a temperature gradient of 80F with a 90F hot spot during the day, and can drop to 70F with an 80F hot spot at night. So, unless your house is 80F at night, the answer is no. Nor should you ever use a heat pad, cord, or heat tape without a reliable thermostat to connect it to. Proper equipment will keep your animal safe and healthy. Leopard geckos may live for over 30 years with proper care--$120 for proper heating equipment and thermostat is not exactly a huge expense for the life of your animal. If you cannot afford it, don't get a leopard gecko.
