Is it safe to run lime away through dishwasher to remove hard water buildup?

My brother in law works for a commerical dishwasher repair service. My dishes were looking terrible. He suggested lime away. they look great. I ran them in the lime away and then added an extra rinse. I used about a cup in the dishwasher.

You may have to repeat the treatment with fresh water/vinegar several times to remove a heavy build up of minerals. Then run several pots of fresh water through the machine to rince out the vinegar. This works well in irons and kettles as well!
