No. My dog was well into having heat (dog period) and then had puppies before we got her fixed and she's been fine and sterile ever since.

You can have your dog spayed while in heat or even after heat if she has been bred. Some vets charge more if they are in heat or pregnant. But it's perfectly safe for your dog.
