Is it true that jell-o gels from a product coming from a horse's hoof?

∙ 7y agoI've heard that same thing, too, over my life. There currently is no proof that horse body parts are used in the United States to make the substance gelatin, which is what makes jello gel.
Gelatin is made from the skins, bones, ligaments and tendons (this would mostly include hooves) of cows and pigs through a cooking/boiling process. This product is called collagen and is not only found in jello, but many other foods, vitamins and minerals, and health supplements.

When you add the powder to the water the molecules of Jello are stirred up and float around in the air. This makes it easier to smell them. When it gels the molecules are not actively floating around.
