Sort of but not really. There's a glimmer of truth there, but don't go overboard.

First the truth part: turns out there's some evidence that our distant ancestors may have eaten this way, and that the human body is kind of designed for this style of eating. However, that should be tempered by the knowledge that our distant ancestors didn't have access to the products of M&M/Mars or Little Debbie or Frito-Lay.

If the food intake is spread out long enough that the stomach never actually gets to the "feeling full" stage (because already-processed food is leaving at about the same rate new food is arriving), you can actually wind up consuming MORE food overall than you would if you just had one big meal.

If the food you're consuming more of is celery sticks and the one big meal would have been an entire 16" Pizza, you may still come out ahead, calorie-wise. But if you're snacking on candy bars and cookies and potato chips, then you're really not doing yourself any favors.
