That depends on your internet usage. The more content you access or download, the more susceptible you may be to attack via Internet. Your protection should also factor in the value of your personal technology, such as photos or work files, that are not easily replaced should an irrecoverable failure occur.
Get a GOOD spyware and malware cleaner ( even worth buying one.)DO NOT "use any spyware cleaner" as some are spyware or adware themselves. Do some diligent research first, on the 'net and in computer magazines. I have Malware Bytes and Bitdefender. Both are very good.
I would try McAffee. I'm pretty sure that I have that on my downstairs computer. It works well and is worth the price tag.
There are plenty of ways to keep spyware out. An important one is to keep your version of windows updated. You can do this by going to : http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com Also make sure that you keep Spybot SD updated. You can check for updates right in the SD program. In SD there should be a button the left called Immunize. Make sure you immunize your computer, this prevents spyware from getting on in the first place. Also, go to http://toolbar.google.com And install the google toolbar. This has a built-in popup blocker that help minimize your spyware. Personally, I would get rid of MS Antispy. I don't think it's worth it.

Rule of thumb... if you don't know who sent you the file... DON'T OPEN IT! These file can contain nasty viruses, spyware, malware, trojans, or worse! These dudes can crash your computer, broadcast your personal info, send messages about you to from the sender, or worse yet... do physical harm to your computer. Do yourself a favor and don't let your curiosity get the best of you. It's not worth the time to "redo" your computer.
They are worth about 55-80$
It's worth about eight dollars.
yes. every computer has anti virus installed on it. EDIT: Not EVERY computer has anti-virus installed on it. They may/may not have a demo but not every computer has anti-virus. You must buy the software and install it yourself.
