I don't think it's actually wrong per se. I mean just to visit, it's fine, and can be a very educational experience. You see I'm a baptist, and I go to a Catholic school, and get to know how they see things, and I invite my friends to come to Wednesday night Bible school. Neither of us has any plans of converting to the other's domination, but its still a good experience.

AnswerCatholics can only fulfill their Sunday obligation by attending Mass on Sunday at a Catholic Church, preformed by a Catholic priest. While educating oneself on other denominations beliefs and structures is not forbidden, attendance at their services and meetings is frowned upon since doctrines and attitudes that are foreign and even contrary to the Catholic Faith are liable to be encountered. Many Catholics have not sufficiently studied their own faith and can easily be taken in by the social aspects and enthusiasm of such events. Particularly, the Protestant emphasis on Bible alone and private interpretation is often encountered and Catholics that have not studied their Faith will find themselves overwhelmed and often must accept The Bible alone premise to even just attend the meetings. Since the way of action determines the way of belief and vice versa, Catholics can become Protestant in their outlook very fast. For this reason, the Church forbids Catholics to engage in such events, although many leaders, in the modern spirit of inter-faith dialogue, may dispute this. Answer:No, it is not wrong for a Catholic to go to a Baptist church service. It is, however, wrong for a Baptist to go to a Catholic church service.

Comment on the above: It is not wrong for a Baptist to go to a Catholic church, but very few would choose to do so.

Many people believe you go to church to worship, to be encouraged, to receive instruction, receive food for thought, to be reinforced, and to fellowship with other believers. This is true. However, the main focus of the Catholic Liturgy is to receive the Body and Blood of Christ through the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Protestant services do not provide this. While some on the surface look like they do, they believe that their communion is merely symbolic and not the actual Passover Feast/Mass in which the actual Body and Blood of Christ is mystically given to Catholics. In addition, protestants do not have Apostolic Succession - the ability to trace the priestly lineage back to Christ Himself. Pope Francis was ordained by John Paul II, who was ordained by John XXIII, and so on and so forth back to St. Peter who was ordained by Christ - it is an unbroken lineage.

Roman Catholics may attend a Baptist service for a good reason, such as a wedding of a friend, they may not, however, actively participate in the service. The reason is that Baptists are protestants - they were formed in protest to the Church of Christ, and their whole theology is deficient in regards to Christianity as understand by the Church. To participate in a Baptist service is to repudiate Catholicism and risk excommunication from the Church, which is the only normal means of salvation established by Jesus Christ. Why anyone would wish to throw away the only means of salvation established by Jesus Christ to attend a service in an ecclesial community established by John Smithe in the 17th century is rather an open question.

Can you be bapizied in a Baptist Church and remain a Catholic?

No, you are not a Catholic after you are baptized into the Baptist Church as you have abandoned your faith and rejected the One True Church. By virtue of your baptism, and the "confession of faith" implied by it, you are now a Baptist. Once you realize: The baptist Church is certainly not mentioned in Scripture. The Catholic Church is most clearly described there. Meantime, do baptists act as did the first Christians? Do they go to Confession? Have they the sacrifice of the Mass? Baptists, like other Protestants, insist upon one thing not commanded by Christ, and neglect most of the things insisted upon by Him. Also, Christ said that His Church would be in the world all days from His time until the end of the world. But where was the Baptist Church before the 15th century? Christ certainly was not the Founder of the Baptist Church. It is subject to all the defects common to other forms of Protestantism. -Radio Replies Vol. 1. Sec. 309. However, because you were once a Catholic (I am assuming - Christened, Received First Communion, and a confirmation), you remain a Catholic; albeit one who is not in Communion with the Church. You must go to Confession and receive Holy Communion… and you are back and in full Communion with the One, True Church!

It depends on the church you go to. Some churches have food drives and give away school supplies to needy children. But, going to a church just for the services is for the wrong reason. If your going to church, go for the right reasons.

If you marry in a baptist church and you are Catholic is it a sin?

No, it is not a sin.If you are Catholic, it is assumed you will be married in a Catholic liturgy, but you can get permission to marry in another church if your spouse belongs to that church or for another good reason.Roman Catholic AnswerThat depends. If you have gotten married in a baptist church without permission, if you have gotten a civil marriage without dispensation, if you have married a non-Catholic without permission from your Bishop: then, yes, in all these cases, you would need to speak to a priest to straighten the situation out, and you would need to go to confession.
