It's not wrong, they both worship the same God, however they can't really take communion in each others churches. Also, you can not use attendance at an Anglican service to take the the place of the requirement to attend a Catholic Mass on Sunday.

Was Queen Elizabeth a Catcholic or Protestant Queen?

protestant The Church of England still considers itself a "catholic" church, just not a "Roman Catholic" church. For instance, all Bibles used in all Anglican services -- included the one commanded by King James I -- include the Apocrypha, which Protestants consider (well) apocryphal. So take your pick.

Are protestants part of the Anglican communion?

The questioner has his terms confused and arouynd the wrong way: it would make more sense if it was something like " Is the Anglican communion protestant?" A "Protestant" refers to someone and/or organization who came out of the Roman Catholic Church "in-protest" at the Reformation, and one of these organizations was the Church of England, which is also known as the Anglican Church. All Anglicans are Protestant, but not all Protestants are Anglican. Just as different churches can be likened to different Football clubs but all their individual members are all known as footy players, so members of individual church "clubs" which came out "in-protest" are known as Protestants, and just as Football is definitely not the same as Rugby, and Football came out of Rugby, so Protestantism came out of Roman Catholicism.

What did the Roman Catholic Church declare in 1992 about Galileo?

It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. In 1992, the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, told a Vatican Science Panel that the Church was wrong to condemn Galileo in 1633 for saying that the Earth revolved around the sun. He said that theologians at that time did not recognize the difference between the Bible and its interpretation.

Can a Catholic chaplain get married?

It depends upon the level of his ordination. If he is a laychaplain - i.e. if he is not ordained - then yes, he can marry. If he has been ordained a deacon in the Catholic Church, then again, he can marry. But if the chaplain is an ordained priest (or bishop), then in the Roman Catholic Church they are not allowed to marry and take a vow of celibacy (not having sex) at their ordination. There has been a lot of controversy over this man-made rule recently especially as a very small percentage of priests in the Anglican Church (who ARE allowed to marry) have defected to the Catholic Church because they disagreed with women in the Anglican Church being allowed to be ordained. This has caused quite a stir and many feel the ban on marriage of priests in the Roman Catholic Church as outdated and wrong and are looking to the time when married priests and bishops (of both sexes) will be allowed into the Catholic Church.

What year did the Roman Catholic church decide it was right and the Anglican Church was wrong?

It isn't quite that simple, but the quick answer is 1534. That is the year that Henry VIII separated the Church of England from Rome. Soon after, Henry was excommunicated by Pope Paul III. The Anglican Church considers its history to go back to the mission of Augustine of Canterbury to England in 597. It was under the authority of the pope until 1534. There were some theological differences between the Anglican Church and Rome prior to 1534, but it was Henry's desire to divorce his first wife Catherine of Aragon that brought things to a head. Interestingly, Henry was not particularly eager to break from Rome and he resisted attempts to let go of many of the Roman practices; the church and its daily practices continued to look very much like the Roman church during the rest of Henry's reign. This is one reason that Henry accepted the title of Governor of the Church of England, and not Supreme Head. There was turbulence after Henry's death because Mary I reinstated the Roman Church under the authority of the pope, and also married Philip King of Spain, a Catholic. Under Elizabeth I the Anglican Church was again and finally established as the church of England. It is a very interesting footnote that Elizabeth's anointing and coronation as queen were performed by Owen Olglethorpe, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Carlisle, and he caused quite a ruckus when he raised the host during the coronation mass against the direct instructions of Elizabeth. She walked out of the service! The raising of the host was seen as an explicit proclamation that Christ is present in the consecrated host, one Roman belief that Elizabeth could not tolerate. To make the situation a little more complex, it is not that the pope simply considered the Anglican Church 'wrong'. He knew that political issues brought about the split, and he also knew that in terms of apostolic succession, the direct line of ordination of bishops going back theoretically to Peter, was in place for the bishops of the Anglican Church as it was for the bishops under Rome. He couldn't simply disband the Anglican Church, and he was powerless to impose papal authority over it..Catholic AnswerFirst of all, there is no "Roman Catholic Church". It's just Catholic, not Roman Catholic. Roman is an epithet first commonly used in England after the protestant revolt to describe the Catholic Church. It is never used by the official Catholic Church. The Catholic Church was instituted by Jesus Christ with St. Peter as His first Vicar (see Matthew 16:17-19). The Catholic Church was guaranteed by Jesus Christ who sent the Holy Spirit to guide it always under St. Peter and his successors, the Popes in Rome. Thus the Catholic Church has always enjoyed the protection and guidance of the Holy Spirit for the sole purpose of bringing God to people and people to God. The Anglican Church was established first by Henry VIII when he left the Catholic Church in order to divorce his validly married wife. All but one bishop of the Church resigned from his newly formed "Anglican Church". The Anglican Church is just another protestant church formed by an individual, in this case, Henry VIII, and his daughter, Elizabeth. It has been wrong since the day it denied its union with Christ's Vicar and his Bishops, as St. Ignatius says in his The Epistle of Ignatius to the Smyrnaeans AD 110 (see quote below) (the fact that the Anglicans kept some aspects of Catholicism was quickly done away with by Elizabeth and her protestant advisers) Henry VIII was excommunicated on 17th December 1538, his daughter was excommunicated on 25 February 1570, and Anglican Orders were definitely declared null and void on 18 September 1896 by Pope Leo XIII: See that you all follow the bishop, even as Jesus Christ does the Father, and the presbytery as you would the apostles; and reverence the deacons, as being the institution of God. Let no man do anything connected with the Church without the bishop. Let that be deemed a proper Eucharist, which is [administered] either by the bishop, or by one to whom he has entrusted it. Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church. It is not lawful without the bishop either to baptize or to celebrate a love-feast; but whatsoever he shall approve of, that is also pleasing to God, so that everything that is done may be secure and valid.

How does the Roman Catholic Church feel towards contraceptives?

The Roman Catholic Church opposes the use of artificial contraceptives, teaching that it is morally wrong and goes against the natural law. The Church promotes natural methods of family planning, such as the use of fertility awareness and periodic abstinence, as these methods do not interfere with the natural procreative aspect of sexual intercourse.
