Yes, Hinduism too is a monotheistic religion. It too is based on the theory of One God. The many personal Gods that the Hindu's worship example: Goddess Saraswati, Lord Ganesh etc.) represent aspects or subsets (knowledge and wisdom, respectively) of the One Supreme God.

They are presented as personifications so that people can meditate and focus on certain specific attributes of the Infinite. For the mind to concentrate on the formless infinite is difficult, a picture helps bridge the gap.

The Vedas proclaim "Ekam sat vipra bahudha vadanti" - God is One whom the sages call by various names.

In Jainism, every being posses a soul and every soul is divine. So there are many, many divine deities. Everybody you know is god, in a manner of speaking. So polytheistic is closer to the truth than monotheistic, but it is perhaps more complicated than sticking it in one category or the other.

Jainism is polytheistic. They worship a lot of the Hindu gods. They do not believe in a Supreme Creator, though.
