The underlying cause would need to be sufficiently treated, in order for jaundice to resolve. Since jaundice occurs as a result of liver conditions and diseases, such a condition would need to be appropriately addressed. Alcoholic jaundice will often resolve with cessation of drinking alcohol - most safely done through a detox program and follow-up. Hepatitis conditions would require the appropriate treatment, depending on whether it is Hep A, Hep B or Hep C. Other conditions are more difficult to treat, especially end-stage cirrhosis of the liver, or liver cancer. Consult a physician for specifics regarding your case (or your relative's or friend's case).
