Originally, in the Garden of Eden, there was ONLY one religion. Today, people in the world profess to worship God in many ways, but only one of those can actually be THE true religion. Which of the myriads of religions is indeed the true one today is up to every single individual to decide for him or herself, hopefully after each one diligently studies the Bible and does some intense historical research.

ANSWER AS JWThis question really is a difficult one to answer, since there are so many religions and denominations in this world. But this question has its uniqueness since very few religions are questioned whether it is a true one or not.

Because there are so many different denominations, it's evident that they don't all follow what is right in the sight of God. So what do you mean by True or Truth?

Today many are interested in Truth and everyone around the world seems to have their own definition of Truth. But according to a religious dictionary, truth is simply termed as "Obedience to God" which in turn shows that the truth must be inside a person.

Since JW's always strive to obey their God, they are readily questioned whether they have truth in them or not. If you have the truth in you, you are confident and that is evident in the work what you do, and the fact that you are free from worldly involvement.

Jehovah's Witnesses are an organization which truly believes in Truth, and its adherents display obedience to Jehovah God in their daily lives. JW's are a united, worldwide, spiritual society and there is evidence to this certainly at their assemblies and conventions.

Many today are really surprised at how they conduct assemblies. They think many are brain-washed, but I can tell you, those who say that are usually the ones who are brain-washed by the propaganda of this world.

JW's do their work as volunteers. Do you know why? It's because they are following the example of their master Jesus Christ. What did he say about the identity of his people? LOVE (Matthew 13:34,35). This is not simple love, its a voluntary love. And their history itself points as evidence of what Jehovah's Witnesses have accomplished.

So what more is needed to prove that Jehovah's Witnesses ARE the true religion?

This wicked world WILL come to an end, but only Jehovah God, and no one else (not even his son, Jesus) knows the date. Read Matthew 24:36. However, the end is near because in 1914 Satan the Devil was hurled down to the Earth by our now reigning King Jesus Christ. (See Revelation 12:9-12)

I personally know and believe that Jehovah is the only true God, and that there is only one TRUE religion: Jehovah's Witnesses.

Another Answer From a Jehovah's Witness' point of view

Yes, we are the true religion. I say this because we have the knowledge and proof that we are true.

Jehovah is not a mistranslation. It is God's name. We do not shun one another. We are just like everyone else. We are most certainly not creepy people. We treat one another with the utmost respect.

Let's go to the Bible. 1 Corinthians 8:4 says that there is but "one God." Ephesians 4:5 say that there is "one Lord, one faith, one baptism." The Bible indicates that there is only one TRUE faith approved by God. There is only one true God of the Bible, so it stands to reason that there is only one way that he has approved to have people worship Him.

In Matthew chapter 7, verse 14, Jesus describes two roads: one that is broad and spacious that leads to destruction, and a narrow, cramped road that leads to life. So Jesus indicated that there is only one road (one religion) that pleases God and leads to life, not "every path leads to God" as some religions teach.

Jesus also indicated that in order to identify the true religion, one would have to look at their "fruits." (Matthew 7:19,20) Consider the fruits of any religion by asking the following questions . . .

* Are all the people of this faith living in peace and harmony with each other, throughout the world?

* Do they individually do their utmost to please God every single day?

* Is their form of worship just a ritualistic formalism (based on church traditions), or do they actually try to apply what they have learned in everyday life?

* Are all their members educated to the same extent as far as the Bible is concerned, or do they leave that to just a select few in the church?

* Do the members of this faith engage in the affairs of this world, such as politics and warfare, or are they separate from the world as Jesus said his true disciples would have to be? (John 17:16)

* Are they a "people for His (Jehovah's) name?" (Do they honor, use, and teach others that holy name?) (Acts 15:14)

* Do all members of this faith follow Jesus' command to preach and teach to others in an organized way throughout the whole earth?

These are just a few of the questions one should consider when trying to identify the true religion that pleases Almighty God.

EXPERIENCE_FROM_A_JW

Theirs is the only one true religion. You can't have people believe in different things and expect all of them to be acceptable to Jehovah God. For example: Muslim's, Catholics, Jews, Buddhist's, false Christians. All of these stem from "Babylon the Great" who teaches false beliefs and false doctrines about God. On the other hand, Jehovah's Witnesses love and apply the teachings of God, not those of man. (Matthew 15:9-12)

Many people say that Jehovah's Witnesses' religion was started by a man (Charles T. Russell), which is false. He in fact started the first bible study group of this modern day organization, but he did not start the religion. True Christianity was started by Jesus Christ himself, in the first century. And the first true witness of Jehovah was Abel.

Many people make false accusations about us as Witnesses and they show hatred towards us . . . but the Bible actually foretold such. (2 Timothy 3:12) "Bear in mind the word I said to you, A slave is not greater than master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you also, if they have observed my word, they will observe yours also.' (John 15:20)

Most other religions' individual members don't preach the word of God to all their neighbors. Yet, ALL Witnesses do this work because we are following the example of Jesus Christ, and obeying him by following his command at Matthew 28:19,20. We volunteer to do this out of love because we care for people and want to save them from this wicked system of things.

We ARE the true religion because we endeavor to follow the Bible exactly, and we try to live our lives in a way that pleases Jehovah. We also show intense love for our brothers and sisters and try to stay clean in God's eyes.

Being one of Jehovah's Witness isn't just a religion - it is a way of life and we MUST CHOOSE to be true Christians ALL the time, something false religions do not do. So I have full faith that Jehovah's witnesses are the one and only true religion.

Yes! Jesus himself did in fact say "It is written: It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you should render sacred service" (Luke 4:8)

This is a highly subjective question than people can only answer on a personal level. Whether Jehovah's Witnesses have the true religion or not can only be determined by an honest examination of their doctrines (see links below). Presently over seven million people believe their worship is the true one.

There are nearly 2.5 billion people in the world - of many different denominations - who call themselves "Christians," and only 7.5 million who identify themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses. That only makes a total of 0.3% of all who say they follow Jesus Christ - hardly a large Church by any standards, but it is in accord with scripture which says that only a few would be true followers of Jesus Christ and Jehovah God. (Please read: Matthew 7:13,14 and Luke 13:23,24)

From Jehovah's Witnesses view, yes we feel we have found the true religion. If we felt someone else had the true religion, we would not be Jehovah's Witnesses. Indeed, who in their right mind would be of any religion, if they felt it wasn't THE 'true religion.' If we felt the Catholics had the truth, we would be Catholic. If we felt the Hindu's had the true religion, we would be Hindu. We are what we are because we feel we have finally found the truth.

We realize that most people in the world have inherited their religion. For example, if you are born in India, you most likely are Hindu, because of birth. Most Catholics and Protestants are such also, because of being born into a Catholic or Protestant family - - and most often are not given a choice or the chance to decide for themselves, but are baptized into that faith as infants.

Jehovah's Witnesses, however, are not born as such. It is a conscious CHOICE we make at some point in our lives. Such ones CHOSE to convert because (after much study and prayer) they saw that Jehovah's Witnesses teach the truth from the Bible.

Often ones feel that others deceived them about the nature of God.

For example, many were taught previously that God torments souls eternally in a fiery hell. But the Bible states that God IS Love. He is compassionate and forgiving. God would never wish to torment anyone, not in a million years. Read Jeremiah 7:31.

ANSWER_FROM_ONE_OF_JEHOVAH'S_WITNESSES">ANSWER_FROM_ONE_OF_JEHOVAH'S_WITNESSES">ANSWER FROM ONE OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES

Jehovah's Witnesses are a Bible based religion that reject long held "Christian" traditions in favor of Biblical laws and principles. They are well known for their expert handling of the Scripture, their application of Bible knowledge, and their systematically citing the Bible as their ultimate authority. By this criteria (ie. a religion is 'true' if it closely reflects Bible patterns and law) and if the Bible is indeed the "word of God", then yes, Jehovah's Witnesses should be considered "the true religion".

There is a discussion page if anyone wishes to talk about this further.

Answer_from_one_who_is_NOT_one_of_Jehovah's_Witnesses">Answer from one who is NOT one of Jehovah's Witnesses

The fact is that though JWs themselves are sincere, the "Christian" Church worldwide considers that their theology is very flawed. Having studied theology and scripture to a high lever over the fast 40 years I have yet to find any learned Bible scholar, theologian, Bible historian, textual critic, Church leader or historian who endorses JW theology as being anywhere near the truth let alone Biblical.

The sad position of the JW is that the most basic tenets of faith do not hold up to real scrutinity. JWs choose to take all their teaching from the Watchtower society, and rarely study God and enjoy his revelation to humanity in other sources.

One such simple flaw is that of the divinity (or not) of Christ, and the theory of the atonement --a central belief of what happened at the Cross. JWs believe that scripture cannot contradict itself as it is the infallible Word of God. Furthermore they reject the Trinity and thus Jesus' divinity, despite John 1 which states that "the Word (ie Jesus) was with God and the Word was God". JWs insist on translating this phrase as "the Word was A god..." although they refuse to clarify what 'a god' means. Scripture tells us that there is only onetrue God. If Jesus is 'a god' then he must be a false god as, by JW theology, there is only one God - Jehovah, and scripture cannot contradict itself. Thus, to the JW John 1 states that Jesus must be a false god. JWs will disagree with this statement, of course, but I have yet to find one who can actually explain adequately just who (and what) Jesus is according to their own teaching.

This tenet can be unpacked to determine what happened on the Cross. JWs agree with the mainstream Christian Church that God is perfect, infinite, unconditional love, as that is what scripture tells us throughout the Bible. They also believe, unlike the Church, that Jesus is not God incarnate. Therefore on the Cross, according to JW theology, God sacrificed someone else, and not himself. This then speaks of a god that needs to be apppeased, like the false gods of the Aztecs, demandng human sacrifice, and not a God of love. However if Jesus IS God in human form , as the Christian Church will state, then the sacrifice on the Cross is God himself suffering and dying for our sins.... an ultimate act of love. And this is in accord fully with the rest of scripture that speaks of God's love. (Of course the scriptures also say that God himself cannot die, so who did die, then?) This denial of the JW that Jesus is divine is backed up by verses taken out of context that presumably back up their belief. But in cherry-picking scripture in this way, they miss the elephant in the room where the divinity of Jesus is unquestioned throughout scripture. For example, he forgave sins and did miracles in his own name, not Jehovah's, he himself will judge the earth, not Jjehovah, and, of course, he was tried for blasphemy because he claimed to be God himself; merely claiming to be a god' as the JWs state (whatever this means) would never have been considered blasphemy nor carry the death penalty. This rejection of Jesus' divinity is just one of the examples of JW doctrine that is considered wrong and heretical by the Christian Church worldwide. There are many others, of course, but this will suffice to show that the JW religion is not considered to be the 'true' Church by the vast majority of Christians (over 99.7%) worldwide. The answer is dependent on whether you are asking someone who is a Jehovah's Witness or someone who is not a Jehovah's Witness. You think someone would engage in something they considered false?

Personally, I say that the JW religion to be completely false and should be stayed away from if a person does not know their Bible. I can give many many biblical reasons why I consider them false and not at all bible based, although the claim to be, but I know JWs that will give (to the unaware person) seemingly compelling arguments as to why they are the true religion. Ultimately, the Bible is the highest authority, and it really is down to individuals to look at both sides and discern for themselves.

AN ANSWER TO THE NOT-JW COMMENT

Thank you for your opinion. You can not say (and no one can force you to say) that JW is the TRUE RELIGION because you are not a JW. But, consider this: the world has a mass of numbers of religions. The biggest of them is the Christianity. Jesus said: "I am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE."(John 14:6) So, the true religion is not Islam, nor Judaism, nor Hinduism, nor Buddhism, but the true religion is Christianism. I'm not saying that all Christians are true. Jesus said: "Not everyone calling me 'LORD,LORD' will be save". Therefore, among the so-called "Christians", there is only one TRUE.

What is the true religion- the true Christian? I am not the one who will give the answer because i do respect the authority of the BIBLE. so, the bible itself will give the answer. Here are some evidences that the bible gave to determine the True Religion.

1.) John 17:26: "And I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them."

So, the TRUE RELIGION knows and uses the almighty name of Jesus' Father. And Jeremiah 10:10 said that the name of God is JEHOVAH.

Which religion uses JEHOVAH's name in their worship?- That Religion is the TRUTH!

2.) Matthew 28:19,20: "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things."

The true religion preaches. They preach the Kingdom of God. Not only their "LEADERS", but the members must be also preacher.

What religion that all of their members preaches house to house(Acts 20:20)?- That is the true religion.

That are only some of the evidences, that the religion you are telling not true, is the true religion.

"Best Religion?" That is a relative term. We rather need to see which religion teaches closest to the truth, and then practices those things it teaches. Note these words of Jesus from Matthew 7:16-23: "By their fruits you will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. Really, then, by their fruits you will recognize those men. "Not everyone saying to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?' And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness." Let's just look at a couple of the fruits produced by Jehovah's Witnesses. 1. The heralding of the good news of the Kingdom was foretold to take place in the last days globally, and Jesus' followers would be the ones who were doing this. (Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20) Who today are most well known for carrying this message from door to door? 2. Jesus said the main identifying mark of his disciples is that they would have a self-sacrificing love for one another. (John 13:34, 35; 15:12, 13) Who today is willing to give up their freedom or even their lives rather than bring harm to their fellow believers, whether this fellow believer is of another "race" or nationality? - Acts 10:34, 35. That is just two; check out more information about Jehovah's Witnesses at the links below in the "Related Links" section.

No, Jehovah's Witnesses are not the largest religious group in the world.

The religious belief system held by the most people in the world is Christianity.

This includes Jehovah's Witnesses, usually under the 'other Christian' category.

Is Jehovah witnesses the third largest religion in the world?

No. I don't really see it as a religion - it is more like a branch (or church, or denomination, or sect) of a larger religion, namely, Christianity. Which religions are the largest of course depends how you classify them - for example, if you classify Christianity as a single religion, or each of the Christian denominations as a separate religion - or some of them. Christianity (as a group that includes Jehova's Witnesses) is the largest religion worldwide, followed by Islam. It seems that the third and fourth places are Hinduism and Buddhism.
