A.) To keep a snake as a pet is not permissible. Rasulullah (P.B.U.H) has commanded the killing of snakes. (Hadith of Bukhari and Muslim). Mirqat Vol. 7 Pg: 712 [Maktaba Haqqaaniyya] Rasulullah (P.B.U.H) has also discouraged keeping dogs as pets (Mirqaat Vol. 7 Pg. 697) To keep harmful animals or animals deemed impure in the Shariah eg. pigs , as pets would not be permissible. Other animals such as cats, sheep, goats, birds, fish etc. are permissible to keep as pets. And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best.
Please note that the command to kill snake is not due to any prejudice against snakes. The logical reason to kill a snake or any harmful creature as such is that it may harm you or someone in your home, neighbourhood, town/city. Apart from that, all the creatures are creation of God, and should not be harmed unnessarily. We are forbidden from plunder. There are several narations of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advising to be kind to animals.

∙ 15y agoMuslims are allowed to keep cats as pets. In fact, one of the companions of Prophet Muhammad, God bless him and grant him peace, was famous for keeping many cats. However, Muslims have to take good care of cats and other animals for whom they are responsible.
True but p.b.u.h just looked after a cat cuz she was pregnant!

∙ 12y agoIn Islam the HOLY PROPHET PBUH only allowed dogs to be kept for security purposes.so keep dogs as pets is not allowed in ISLAM.However if one likes dogs can keep them but not in home.hey if one really likes dogs he should atleast be able to spend some time and money to arrange a separate place for his pet dog to live in.There are two reasons why dogs are not allowed to be kept inside homes.1.Angels don't enter the house.2.there saliva is drty

a dog is alloud, but not in the house, if its just for security then its fine, if you touch it you cannot pray, unless if you wash your hands. If a dog goes inside a prayer room you cannot pray there, because its no longer clean.
