Can diesel or biodiesel be used in kerosene space heaters?

Yes! Diesel, kerosene and gasoline are really the same thing except that they have different octanes. Diesel is the lowest refined gas then kerosene then your different octanes of gas. So, to make the octane the same as kerosene you simply mix the right amount of gas with diesel and voila, you have kerosene. I think u can use a lower octane than kerosene but NEVER put anything of a higher octane than kerosene! Yes! Which is more viscous diesel or petrol?

Diesel has a much higher viscosity than petrol (gasoline). It is less refined and contains more oil to lubricate and cool the combustion chamber in a diesel engine.

What is the density of diesel oil?

The current Euro-V diesel product specification used by much of the world requires diesel to be between 0.820 kg/l and 0.845 kg/l at 15.6°C. This variation has to do with the amount of kerosene (jet-fuel) blended into diesel. In the winter more kerosene will be blended into diesel to ensure no cold properties (such as cold filter plug point (CFPP) and/or cloud point) are exceeded. In the summer less kerosene is blended into diesel because kerosene almost always sells for a higher price than diesel.

Can kerosene be used in place of diesel in a boiler What are the technical points that have to be looked into Any technical changes required?

Kerosene is generally similar in nature but slightly more volatile than diesel. The flash point of kerosene is generally lower by about 30°F. Kerosene also has a true vapor pressure specification (TVP= vapor pressure at 100°F) while diesel has none. Kerosene also has a smoke point specification while diesel has none. Smoke point is height of a flame in millimeters that burns without causing smoking. Finally kerosene has a freeze point whereas diesel has a pour point and cloud point; however, the freeze point of kerosene is generally much less than either of the latter in diesel. Given all of the above I think you will generally be okay burning kerosene in a diesel fuel boiler. Kerosene will actually work better than diesel if you happen to be starting up in a very cold environment. The optimum flame height may slightly different. This could be adjusted by altering the flow rate of fuel, but of course generally the flow rate is dependent on some other need. As mentioned above kerosene is more volatile than diesel so be careful when handling/storing the fuel. If this is to be done on a permanent basis consider moving the fuel storage tank further away from any structures, etc.

Why is kerosene more expensive than gasoline?

Because the fuel companys are a bunch of oportunistic crooks. the same rule aplys to diesel fuel.

Is it bad to use red diesel in a truck?

Red diesel also know was kerosene and no its accualy burns cleaner than diesel and that is proven but depends which state your in its illegal to burn kerosene in your on road machines and if your caught you will be slaped with a huge fine but many farmers use it in there tractors because its cheaper

What is the difference between diesel oil and kerosene?

Diesel is a mixture of carbon chains that typically contain between 8 and 21 carbon atoms and may be produced by fractional distillation of crude oil between 200 °C (392 °F) and 350 °C (662 °F) Kerosene is composed of carbon chains that typically contain between 6 and 16 carbon atoms and may be produced by fractional distillation of crude oil between 150 °C and 275 °C, By comparison you can see that kerosene is a mixture of organic molecules that tend to be smaller (and consequently more volatile) than diesel oil. The uses of the two fuels is pretty much based on the impact of those properties. Kerosene is less viscous at low temperatures than diesel and is more volatile.

What happens if you mix diesel oil and motor oil?

not much. it would change the viscosity of the oil. the diesel oil is much thicker than regular engine oil.

Whose viscosity is more honey or water?

Honey has a higher viscosity than water.

Can diesel or biodiesel be burned in a kerosene space heater?

ANSWER:Normal diesel fuel should not be burned in a kerosene heater, because there are many more contaminants in it, such as sulfur. A 100% solution of Biodiesel will not work because it requires a much higher initial temperature (300F) to burn cleanly. Blends of these fuels with kerosene can be burned, but there may be problems with the fuel soaking up the wick properly in the case of Biodiesel, which can lead to wick burning and sooting. There may also be problems lighting and burning properly if the blend contains too much of the Biodiesel, as its flash point is higher than kerosene. Diesel/Biodiesel fuel can also be run in many forced air heaters along with kerosene.

Which is heavier water or kerosene?

Water is heavier than diesel fuel
