Confucianism as interpreted by Mencius posits that humans are inherently good. He believed all humans have the ability to distinguish right from wrong and even if a child has not been taught which acts are acceptable and not bad, they have the ability to feel shame.

∙ 12y agoNone of the above because Confucianism is a philosophy of life rather than a religion, When Confucius spoke about the 'good' man he was speaking about the person who lives their lives in accord with the best aspects of the social structure which he saw as respect towards the ancestors, respect from the higher to the lower (and vice versa) and, foundationally, respect towards parents.
