Mitt Romney's ancestors have been members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) for several generations. Mitt Romney chose to be baptized into this church and has remained a practicing member of the church throughout his life because he sincerely believes that it's doctrines and teachings are true. He has very strong faith in his religion and has no desire to change his beliefs or practices.

Mitt Romney has been a practicing member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) his entire life. His ancestors have been practicing the faith for several generations.

As far as Mormonism being a cult, it is no more cult-like than any other faith. By definition, all religions are cults (A cult is defined as "a group of people who share religious or spiritual beliefs") However, the popular definition of cult is a group that is insular, extremist, and secretive, generally living in isolated groups. Mormonism does not fit the popular definition. Mormons live in regular homes and neighborhoods, participate in their communities, and blend in with society. Mormons are not secretive and invite everyone to learn of their beliefs by visiting their services, through online resources, or through over 50,000 travelling missionaries whose duty is to explain and answer questions about their faith. Unlike most "cults", Mormonism is easy to join and easy to leave, and tens of thousands enter or leave the faith every year.

Yes. Mitt Romney and his wife are actively practicing members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church). They attend services each Sunday, pay tithes, hold positions in their congregation, follow the Mormon health code, and participate in extra Temple worship services as often as possible. Mitt has said that he is not a "cafeteria Mormon" that picks and chooses what church doctrines to believe and follow, but that he believes and follows all the doctrines and guidelines of the Church.
