Is my blower dead on my 1999 Escort Recently my vents and AC stopped blowing air with no warning. I haven't any idea on what to check first or what I can repair by myself?

I've known so many people with escorts, eventually they all have this problem. The blower is located behind the glove compartment. First try to locate the blower and rap it a couple of times with a light hammer. Surprising enough, more then half the time, the blower will fire up again. If not, only you can decide whether or not you are capable of replacing the component.
