If a parakeets cere is white is it a girl or a boy?

well i have 2 keets myself and i myself isn't sure iwhich one it which. online it says that females have a tan or pink cere. and males have blue-purplish. but the owner i got them from says the pink is male and the blue is female i don't know which one is which yet. we will see if they mate That is incorrect males have blue and females have dark pink and a little brown in them. So your parakeet is a female.

How can you tell a boy parakeet?

The cere, a patch of skin around the nostrils, is blueish in males, pink in females.

How do you tell if a parakeet a boy or girl?

The male (Boy) parakeets have a BLUE nose/cere (right above the beak) and females have a PINK or BROWN nose/cere, and babies are white, purple or in between so you will not be a ble to tell until they are older. you can google it just tipe in "Pictures of male parakeet" and when that comes up google "female parakeet pictures" and you should see what they look like

Your parakeet has a dark pink cere?

I would say that your parakeet is probably a girl. I did a lot of research on parakeets sexes and about training them. I am a parakeet expert and I know a lot about them. I am very certain that your parakeet is a female. A males cere is white with a tint of blue and pink. --Hope I helped Dr. M.C

How do you tell a boy parakeet from a girl parakeet if they are the same color?

It is very difficult to determine the gender of a budgie when they are young. Wait a couple of months until they grow. Then if it turns into a brownish colour then it will be a girl, if it turns a bluish-purple colour than it will be a boy.

How can you tell if a pareet is male or female?

The surest way to determine the sex of your parakeet is to take it to an avian veterinarian to have it surgically sexed. To try to determine your parakeet's sex on your own, look at it's cere (the fleshy part just above its beak around the nostrils). If your bird is younger than twelve months, it may be impossible to visually identify whether it is male or a female without the help of the vet. Normally, in adult male parakeets, the cere will be blue or purplish (if your bird is recessive pied, fallow, lacewing, lutino, or dark-eyed clear then the cere will be bright purple or pink). All female parakeet varieties develop a white, tan, or brown cere. The brown ceres tend to be flaky and thick.

When can you tell what sex a budgie is?

The age you can tell when a budgie is a girl or boy is 6 to 5 months. In that timing the cere (the skin above the beak) will be a purple or pinkish colour. Then if a boy the cere will be blue, if a girl it will be beige or slight pink.

How do you tell if a budgies is a girl or a boy?

you can't tell the sex of a budgie as a baby unless you DNA test it ( which i wouldn't suggest and would probably be a waste of money and time ) even a vet couldn't tell the sex of a baby budgie... but when they are older boy budgies have blue crests (the part above their beak) and girls are brown or a pink colour.

Is there any way to find out sex of a parakeet?

You can find out the sex of a parakeet by looking at the band where the nostrils are. If they are blue or purple it is a male, if it is pink or white it is a female. This only works after 4 months.

Why does a Parakeet's nose change colors?

When a parakeet is young, both males and females have a white or peach colored seer (the patch of skin around the nostrils). When they become older, it is easier to determine the sex of the parakeet by the color of the seer. Pink or reddish seer indicates female, where as blue or purple indicates male. Sometimes the seers on females can change intensity of red as well. from a light color to a deep red as well.
