in some cases yes it is harmful to your skin and body. this is because perm or floride is used with multual diffrent kinds of chemicails. some humans on this planete don't even know that some people are using Perm to straighten their hair now a days.
the side effectsScintist say that it is very dangerouse to put this florid in the scalp. florid/perm is so dangerous that it can cut thought your skin. Most of the time the perm is burning. it feels like fire on your head.. and somtimes this florid will cause you to have a bold spot. most of the time your head will fell the burn.Wiki User

And thus stops the perming process. If it were not stopped it would cause irreparable damage to the hair.
