If you have a severe cough that is keeping you up at night, you'll probably get a prescription for a cough syrup with codeine in it.
They do not sell codeine cough syrup OTC in the USA. You can buy codeine products OTC in Canada, though. 8mgs per dose. The only way to get narcotic cough syrup is to have a doctors perscription. To set the record straight cough syrup that contains codeine may be purchased not over the counter but by asking the Pharmacist for the medication and then siging for it in a log that we keep behind the counter. For the folks that like to make bold statements ie the cough syrup with codeine can not be purchased any where in the USA.. you need to do some background work. I do not know the regulations of every state but in Tennessee this product can be purchased in a pharmacy.
No you can not. This syrup is meant for orally administration and for cough it should only be taken from mouth. but if codeine is in other form like emulsion or suspension or suppositories, then one can think of rectal route.but syrup is meant for oral only.
You CAN'T!!!!Tylenol & Codeine are not meant for children!!!!
A doctor writes a prescription on a prescription pad which usually has special paper that can't be copied. It has the name of the patient, the codeine cough syrup, the dosage, and it will be signed and dated.
It does for me. A doctor gave me my first prescription for Tylenol 3 as a cough suppressant after a bad chest cold and recommended cutting them in half and taking a half pill at bed time. Worked like a charm and without the vile taste of codeine cough syrup.
It could be the brand. Just like in generic anything, meds are no different. If you filled the brand name the first time, and filled generic the second, this could explain the difference in taste. Also (more of a longshot here) when your sinuses are congested things will taste differently. Are you less congested now that you were when you first had the syrup?
with cough syrup mixed in. syrup, lean, sizzurp.
No, Seroquel® is a psychotropic medication used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and other forms of mental illness. Codeine is a narcotic that is often combined with a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen (brand: Tylenol®) or cough syrup for treatment of cough, diarrhea, or pain. Both drugs act as sedatives and should not be combined unless prescribed by a doctor.
A liquor called firwater.
Cough syrup with Codeine is not available in Utah without a Dr.'s prescription. Codeine is classified as an opiate and as such not available over the counter. You may be thinking of Dextromethorphan, a morphine derivative, which is contained in most over the counter cough syrups. However, it does not contain the addictive narcotic side effects (such as the 'high', or analgesic effect) but mainly serves as an antitussive (cough suppressant). In high amounts it may have a disassociative effect on the body.
Codeine on its own tastes extremely bitter. If you have to take it in a solution it's best to mix it with something sweet like fruit squash or kool-aid.
