Not that I'd refer to it as either, it's technically a substance.
"A chemical substance is a material with a specific chemical composition."
Well, we know the chemical composition is specifically NaCl. So it's a substance. You could say it's a mixture of Na and Cl ...which would achieve NaCl, however since they form a crystal structure and are distinctly NaCl rather than Na+ + Cl-....it would be misleading to refer to it as a mixture.
Salt in the shaker generally is not pure NaCl: table salt contain iodine (as iodide/iodate of potassium/sodium) - it is a recommendation of OMS (a diet without iodine lead to cretinism) and an anticaking additive.
no , its a mixture. salt is a pure substance, as is water, but togher they are a mixture.....
A salt solution is a homogeneous (uniform) mixture of salt and water, and is not a pure substance.
If there is no salt or substance that makes it impure it is a pure mixture
no, it's a mixture. Salt is a pure substance, as is water, but together they are a mixture.
pure substance...since it is NaCl...a compound..
Common salt is a compound (NaCl), not a mixture and is a pure substance (after refining).
Homogeneous mixture
Seawater is a mixture. It is a combination of salt and water that is a homogeneous mixture. An example of a pure substance is either pure salt or pure sugar.
No, it is the compound sodium chloride, a pure substance.
Homogeneous mixture
Mixture
Salt on its own is a pure substance. It consists entirely of sodium chloride ions. On the other hand, pepper is not a pure substance. It is a mixture of many different substances.
