The Australian Parliament passed a same-sex marriage law for all states and territories. The bill had earlier passed through the Senate.
This makes Australia the 26th country to legislate to allow same sex marriage.

However, the process will not be easy or quick, as there are many people who oppose it.

∙ 11y agoAs it now appears that the United Kingdom will legalize same-sex marriage by 2014, there is a renewed push to do so in Australia, which is likely to follow suit shortly thereafter. In fact, the Australian Capital Territory has already legalized same-sex marriage and the first such marriages will take place there in December 2013.
