low pH means it is more acidic, thus, your hair tend to harden. Therefore, you need to use hair conditioner which is alkaline to neutralise it.
Damage you hair is more like it. The chlorine is very bad for your hair and should be rinsed after swimming. A: Not a good idea to shampoo in the hair in the pool. You are contaminating the water.
heya! I'm assuming you know the pH scale. oh, and btw, different shampos have different pHs: Exact for Normal Hair- 8.52 (highest) Vive Smooth Intense- 6.29 Herbal Essences- 6.08 Head and Shoulders- 6.00 Dove Beautifully Clean- 5.48 Garnier Fructis- 3.41 (lowest) hope this helps lol
What is the reason you're after an alcohol-free shampoo? In most high street formula shampoos the alcohol is there to stabilize the pH, and provide you with a good clean. A good shampoo should have a slightly acidic pH, say of around 5.5, or 6.5. This is because the cuticle of your hair responds best to a slightly acidic bath, and post-wash the scales that make up the cuticle will lay flatter. This means your hair will be more shiny, and get fewer snarls, if used correctly. You might be able to find alcohol-free products in your local heath-food/ Herbal store, but chances are they won't provide as good a clean, and finished result, as a standard formula.
Neutral is 7. A pH of 5.6 would be acidic
it will totally depend on the brand. I would guess between pH 5 and pH 12.
Hair does not have a pH, because it is (and will) not dissolved in water. Water with shampoo having pH = 5.5 reacts neutral when used for hair washing.
between 4.5 and 6 if they are pH balanced.

A good quality of shampoo should have pH between 7 to 7.5.

Shampoo has various types depending on your need for your hair; such as for dandruff, volume, styling, or for frizz control. with the many different types of shampoos, its hard to find an average pH level for all of them. these are some of the pH balances of the different types of shampoo: * Neutral- about 7 * Dandruff- about 6
shampoos that are balanced to the pH of skin and hair
It is important to use a shampoo that is pH balanced for your hair's health. Something too acidic or too basic can harm your hair, leaving it dry and burnt.
acid PH closes the hair cuticles and alkaline PH opens it shampoo is more alkaline and conditioner is more acidic
Alkaline PH shampoos are shampoos with a lower PH balance to help prevent damage to your hair. For example, bleach used to lighten hair has a PH close to 8 and your hair is naturally lower, around a 4. An Alkaline PH shampoo will help neutralize the bleach in your hair, preventing damage.
That depends entirely on the brand. Usually shampoo is a base and if it is not, then there is something wrong with that shampoo. Since they usually tend to be bases they are usually above 7 on the PH balance scale.
