What is the reason you're after an alcohol-free shampoo?
In most high street formula shampoos the alcohol is there to stabilize the pH, and provide you with a good clean.
A good shampoo should have a slightly acidic pH, say of around 5.5, or 6.5. This is because the cuticle of your hair responds best to a slightly acidic bath, and post-wash the scales that make up the cuticle will lay flatter. This means your hair will be more shiny, and get fewer snarls, if used correctly.
You might be able to find alcohol-free products in your local heath-food/ Herbal store, but chances are they won't provide as good a clean, and finished result, as a standard formula.

No in fact 2 in 1s i:e shampoo and conditioner is a very commercial concept. A Shampoo is only for the scalp it has cleansing properties to wash out oil (sebum) and product from the hair in this process it opens up the cuticles of the hair as well which is why after shampooing the hair feels a little frizzy, dry and not so smooth. A conditioner is what helps the hair retain the moisture it lost and closes the cuticles making the hair shaft smooth again and gives it that shine. Its quite similar to skin care regime after you have cleansed your face you tone it to lock the moisture n close the pores....so make sure you do not reach out for the 2 in 1s again....always go for a professional range of shampoos n conditioners that suit your hair type n scalp type as well...
low pH means it is more acidic, thus, your hair tend to harden. Therefore, you need to use hair conditioner which is alkaline to neutralise it.

9 out of 10 times the best quality comes from the brand, and the better the brand the more expensive the product is. So usually if it is more expensive than the others (i.e John Freida Collection) it is better for your hair. But shampoo and conditioner are different for eveyone, what works on one person might not work as well on another person, so it all depends on the person, I suggest trying different types of shampoo and conditioner until you find one that you like, or go see your hair dresser to see what type is best for you. And if you don't have time for either of these things, The John Frieda Collection is very good, just choose the shampoo and conditioner that match your hair colour to enhance the colour and shine. i love the sheer collection it literally fixed my damaged hair and made it smell INCREDIBLE!
