No , it is NOT an interference engine ( according to Gates - they make timing belts etc. )
NO. You need a VORTEC engine from the year 1997 to 1999
you may have s mall or big hole in your exhaust system. have it check out.
I would replace the fuel filter. It might be letting just enough fuel by to start the engine, but not let it run very long. When the engine starves itself out (stalls) a little more fuel trickles through the plugged filter so you can restart the engine.
Bad fuse (open), bad switch or bad blower motor.
Not something I would recommend doing at home. You will need atleast a torque wrench to take off the cam cover, timing flash gun, sockets and spanners.
Use a volt meter at the rear windshield to check to be sure that it is getting power. If it is... repair any breaks in the window grid. If no power... check the fuse, the push button switch, or the wires related to the to this system. i have run into this prob with my 2001 and i found out that just under the left inner door trim at the floor, peal the carpeting back near the fire wall.there will be a square wire connector going to the rear of the car. you have proabbly burnt a wire somewhere in that connector. when you find the burnt wire, just run a fuzable link there instead . hope this helps.
It's possible. The first thing is to check and see if you have spark, you can do this with a inductive timing light or you can pull the plug wire out put a screwdriver in it then set it about 1/16 from a good ground then have someone turn the car over while you watch to see if it's sparking. Note: Be careful doing this not to touch it while it's being turned over, their is enough energy in the coil to stop your heart!!! you can also get a spark checker at your local parts store for under 10.00. If you have spark then it could be either timing (jumped/broke timing belt/chain), No fuel (bad fuel pump), low fuel pressure (Clogged filter or bad pump/broke line in the tank). It is also possible for it to be getting too much fuel. how many mile does it have? have you ever done a tune up on it? did you have any other problems with it like: hard starting, hesitation, check engin light, etc.?
I don't know if an Expedition uses linkage rods or shift cables so I'll answer for both:BLOCK THE WHEELS AND SET THE PARKING BRAKE SO THAT THE VEHICLE CAN'T ROLL!!!You may need to jack up the vehicle to get under it. If so, use proper jack stands that are in good condition.Climb UNDER the vehicle, have someone moving the shifter and watch the side of the transmission. You SHOULD be able to see the linkage. If a linkage rod is not connected it may be as simple as re-connecting the linkage and replacing the locking pin.If your vehicle uses shift cables you may need to replace a damaged shift cable. That would be a dealer item, meaning that you will only be able to purchase a shift cable from the dealer. Adjusting the cable may be a bit of a task for someone who hasn't done it before so you might want to take the vehicle to either a transmission specialist or your favorite mechanic.
