The American dream is true, but not as true as it used to be.
For those who are creative, talented, attractive and hard working, the dream is still possible, but for many, there is little chance of getting ahead as in past years because of the way American society has changed.
People who worked hard all of their lives, saved, raised a family, bought a little house now are finding that they've lost everything (or most everything) because of the housing bubble and the Stock Market (and a whole lot of fraud).
Their Medicare and Social Security benefits are being challenged, and most people no longer even have pensions.
A good number of young people feel they will never be able to retire, and they may be correct. This definitely is not the America we once knew, so achieving the dream, while still possible, is much more difficult.
