It's a bit like saying that:
- because my great-great-great-great grandfather was transported to Australia as a convict then I am one too;
- because my brother is blonde then so am I;
- because my [whatever] did [whatever] then so did I;
- because my [whatever] believed [whatever] then so do I;
- because my [whatever] is [whatever] then so am I;
Just as physical characteristics cannot be guaranteed to be passed on from one generation to the next, so it is with beliefs: you can teach your children the right things and they can will still go off and do what they want to anyway. If people could not alter their behaviour or learn it then would mean they would nothing but automatons, and this means they would be never able to change. Being unable to change would also mean they would be unable to repent, and that is commanded:-
Mar 1:14-15 KJV Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, [v. 15] And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Luk 13:4-5 KJV Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? [v. 5] I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Luk 16:19-31 KJV There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: [v. 20] And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, [v. 21] And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. [v. 22] And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; [v. 23] And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. [v. 24] And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. [v. 25] But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. [v. 26] And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. [v. 27] Then he [the rich man] said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: [v. 28] For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. [v. 29] Abraham saith unto him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them' [v. 30] And he said, 'Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent'. [v. 31] And he said unto him, 'If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead'
Certainly those who are members of the Baptist Church believe that its teachings and practices are true. Many other Christian Churches and Denominations are "in fellowship" or "in communion" with the Baptist Church, which means that they agree on all or many aspects of doctrine (teaching.)
At the same time, Christians often disagree with each other when it comes to specific teachings, particularly about the details regarding Communion (the Eucharist or Lord's Supper), whether babies should be baptized, whether one needs a conversion (born again) experience, and how the church should be governed.
So the answer to whether the Baptist Church is "true" depends on whom you ask, and exactly what you mean by "true."
To many Baptists yes. If this were fact though, there would not be thousands of denominations around the world.
