* Both sides in this dispute claim that they are justified. * Both sides are probably right.
However, the fact that someone is justified in taking a course of action does not mean that they ought to, or even must, take that course of action.
Both sides over-react - which is always the danger when people are diametrically opposed to each other's attitudes.
The latest war was Operation Pillar of Smoke, which was an Israeli Aircraft and missile assault retaliating against Hamas Missile Strikes in Israeli territory which intensified after Israelis targeted the leader of Hamas' militant wing for assassination.
Hamas opposed the Oslo accords and wanted to undermine the PLO-Israeli peace process.
...demands. Which of the following is the best argument in favor of the United States identifying Hamas as a terrorist organization? ANSWER- Hamas uses violence against ordinary people to create fear for political ends :) -Apex-
the hamas is using them as human shields to fire rockets at israeli cities
A minimum of 300 children died in the Gaza attack, as did circa 700 Hamas militants, 10 Israeli soldiers and 3 Israeli civilians.
Except in its ability to overpower Fatah, Hamas is generally unsuccessful. Its rule in the Gaza Strip has only resulted in (1) more destruction of Palestinian territory, (2) decreased rights and freedoms for Palestinians because of domestic laws banning dancing, music, and imposing curfews, (3) decreased access to goods because of the Israeli and Egyptian blockade due to Hamas militancy, and (4) increased rates of death from conflict both from Israeli weapons and from Hamas policies of using human shields.
No. They can't smuggle those into Gaza unnoticed, so the IAF (Israeli Air Force) will be bombing the heck out of the shipment.
Answer 1The assertion is that Hamas locates military assets in civilian zones. There is no reason to expect that Hamas or Israeli leaders should not live among civilians. Leaders and statesmen are usually not considered valid military targets.Answer 2The question misunderstands the assertion. It is not that Hamas Leaders locate themselves in civilian areas that is the issue, but that rockets and missiles are launched from civilian zones. As a result, Israel finds that in destroying the weaponry, there are civilian casualties. Additionally, Hamas adds to the carnage by specifically choosing places like schools where the innocents involved will be women and/or children. Israeli leaders usually put missile batteries, military airstrips, and other war-related technologies outside of civilian zones (like most countries) so that conflict will not involve civilian casualties.Note that unlike certain others, Israel does all it can to avoid targeting civilians.
The majority of Israelis support a two-state solution, but are very wary of Hamas since they know that Hamas opposes any reconciliation with Israel.
Tavor (תבור) is an Israeli bullpup assault rifle
"Just" from whose point of view? Israelis say that they are justified in trying to stop the Hamas rocket attacks. Hamas say they are justified in fighting for the return of the lands which Israel has ilegally occupied since the 1967 war. Unbiased outsiders might say that neither side is justified and that face-to-face discussions with open minds and an honest desire to live in harmony is required on all sides.
The Israeli Shekel is used in both the Gaza strip and the West bank. Neither Hamas or the Palestinian Authority mints currency.
