From a pure numbers standpoint, the Nexus One was a flop. It was sold only online by Google and had little marketing support behind it from it and from carriers. At the time, Android OS had only 5% of the smartphone market that was largely dominated by Apple, BlackBerry and others. Those that did buy this phone were largely tech enthusiasts and developers.
Despite it being a flop, history seems to show that this phone was ahead of its time. Android OS was holding its own and was showing promise, while the hardware specs that were leaps and bounds above most phones in 2010 can still compete with a number of entry-level and some mid-range models 3 years later.
