The US is a large country but it is far from being the world's largest. In terms of surface area, Russia is much larger, and Canada is slightly larger. In terms of population, China and India both have much larger populations (each has more than 3 times the US population). So the US is the 3rd largest, both in terms of geographical size and in terms of population. It does still have the world's largest economy, although economic forecasts suggest that the economy of China will surpass that of the US in the coming years.
