Both, Westminster Cathedral is the Catholic Cathedral for the diocese and Westminster Abbey, which was stolen from the Church by Henry VIII is now an Anglican worship center.

.

Answer.

Westminster Abbey is an Anglican church, Westminster Cathedral is a Roman Catholic church. Westminster Abbey was originally a Catholic church/monastery started by the Benedictine Monks. In 1539 the Catholic monks were thrown out. In 1556 Queen Mary restored them to their rightful place. In 1556 Queen Elizabeth (who was never the true inheritor of the throne) threw the monks out again and made the abbey Protestant.

Yes. It was a Catholic Abbey Church before the reformation.

Now it is an Anglican Church, but not a church that belongs to any diocese. It is known as a 'Royal Peculiar' - a church owned and run by the monarch herself and the dean and clergy are not answerable to the Archbishop of Canterbury but directly to thhe Queen. Thus Westminster Abbey is truly a national Church for the whole of the country.

Is St. Paul's in London a Catholic church?

St Paul's Cathedral is the Anglican cathedral for the diocese of London and therefore is an Anglican church (Church of England) and not a Catholic Church. South of the River Thames is the second Anglican diocese in London, the diocese of Southwark, served by the Anglican cathedral called Southwark Cathedral. The Catholic cathedral in London is Westminster Cathedral - the cathedral church for the Catholic diocese of London. Do not confuse Westminster Cathedral, however, with Westminster Abbey. The latter is not a cathedral but something called a 'royal peculiar' - a church owned and administered directly by Her Majesty the Queen.

Is St Pauls Cathedral a Catholic Church?

Actually, no. St. Paul's is theCathedral of the Church of England in the Anglican Diocese of London..The Roman Catholic Cathedral located in London is called Westminster Cathedral, seat of the Archbishop of the Westminster Diocese. Both the Anglican and The Roman Catholic Church are divided geographically into areas called "dioceses". Each of the dioceses is overseen by a bishop, who in the case of the Catholic church, is appointed by the Pope. Whichever church in the diocese the bishop lives at and regularly says Mass at is called the cathedral for that diocese.

Can an Anglican Catholic priest say Mass at a Roman Catholic Church?

The Anglican Church is not called the Anglican Catholic Church, and the Catholic Church is not formally known as the Roman Catholic Church even though the Vatican is indeed located in Rome. Your question therefore would more accurately read, can an Anglican priest say Mass at a Catholic Church. The answer is, the Catholic religion does not allow Anglican priests to officiate at their rituals. The Anglican Church, despite being extremely similar to the Catholic Church in most respects, is nonetheless regarded by Catholicism as a heretical schism.
