I have a95 sl1 saturn with a bad ac compress that rattles and want torerout the serpentine belt off the compress. What is the typical cost and is it worth it?
Bad clutch on compressor, unplug the wires from the AC compressor, replace fuse if doesnt blow fuse its in compressor, if blows then gounded wire
The AC compressor on most SL vehicles is on the passenger side, just in front of the engine. Both the high and low ports are connected to the aluminum tubes that connect to the compressor.
You first need to find out if your ac compressor is coming on. It should make a click sound then you can see the armature or compressor clutch pulley spinning. If it is not coming on then check ac relay, cycling switch, ac control head, wiring, and any associated fuses. All of these things can stop the compressor from starting
You probably have a bad coolant temperature switch, this are fairly cheap and easy to install.
Use only 134-A
It depends on what is wrong with it. Take it to a good garage.
1) Defective water pump 2) Stuck thermostat 3) Broken positioning tab inside thermostat housing (located at engine block on front side under AC compressor, if you have AC).
my ac compressor is bad and i want to change it myself how can i do this
An AC compressor will only engage when the "low side" refrigerant pressure sensor detect that it is above a specific PSI level. A faulty sensor or more likely a low refrigerant pressure will prevent the compressor clutch from engaging. There are quite a few other conditions that can result in an inoperable compressor as well: Faulty clutch Faulty relay Blown fuse bad connector Damaged wire Faulty controls on the dashboard... To properly diagnose the problem will require the assistance of someone who can investigate the AC system.
The Autozone web site says 7.00 ounces.
