Is the serpentine belt the same as the drive belt?

The serpentine belt would be the same as the accessory drive belt.

How do you change the serpentine belt on a 89 s10?

you have to loose the belt in order to slide it out by releasing tension on the tensioner pulley ,what you do it`s sore of a tight motion clockwise on the tensioner bolt it`ll loosen the belt and then you can slide it out, to install it do the same.

How do you put on a serpentine belt a 2005 Ford 500?

The belt has a spring loaded tensioner. The tensioner can be pulled to the side to release the belt then the belt can be removed. Make sure to put the new belt over all of the pulleys the same way that the old one was positioned.

How do you change serpentine and supercharger belts on 2000 Grand Prix GTP?

Both the accessory belt and supercharger belt are serpentine. The supercharger belt comes off first. The tensioner is under the coils and easy access. Use a 15mm socket and ratchet to release tension on the belt and remove the belt from one of the pulleys. Slowly and carefully release the pressure on the tensioner. I had to remove the radiator reservoir to get access to the accessory tensioner way in the back. Just remove two nuts and lift up. Plug the overflow hole. Using the same socket, relieve pressure on the belt and remove the belt from the alternator or take your pick of pulleys. Carefully thread the new accessory belt on all but the alternator. Use a flash light to verify that the belt is properly aligned on all pulleys. Use the rachet to move the tensioner back to the limit and carefully thread the new belt over the last pulley (alternator?). Let the tension off and use the flash light again to verify alignment. Do not get your finger between the belt and pulley! The tensioner being accidently release at such a time will cause damage to the flesh. Repeat with the supercharger belt.

How do you tighten a loose Serpentine Belt on a 1990 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL?

if your belt tensioner's spring is getting tired the belt will slacken. you either have a very very stretched out belt (unlikely) or your belt tensioner needs replacing. I recommend that you replace the belt at the same time anyway.

How do you replace the serpentine belt on a 99 Jeep Wrangler 40L that does not have a belt tensioner?

The belt tensioner is located at the bottom of the power steering pump looking at it from the front the tensioner is on the bottom left. you could always loosen the alternator up a little. My 1997 with a 4.0 does not have a tensioner pulley, and I believe the 99s are the same. the alternator is the tensioner. Remove one of the bolts and it will swivel in and you can get the belt off

Is a serpentine belt and drive belt one in the same?

Technically,Yes. But realistically no. They are both drive belts, but the term drive belt is normally what is referred to as a non-serpentine belt. This term is used to distinguish between the two type belts. A drive belt tension must be adjusted manually, whereas a serpentine belt tension is controlled by a tensioner.

What all do you have to do to change a serpentine belt on a 1992 Chevrolet G20 van?

Find the belt tensioner and using a socket and ratchet move the tensioner wheel and arm upwards just enough to slip the belt out from under the tensioner wheel. Make note of routing pattern for old belt so new belt can be installed exactly the same.

Is an alternator serpentine belt the same as a serpentine belt?

If the alternator belt is the same belt as the other accessories, yes.

How do you put a belt on a 2005 dodge ram 1500 hemi?

For a serpentine belt, disconnect the battery. Move the belt tensioner to the side, to loosen the belt. Remove the old belt, and replace with the new one going the same way over all of the pulleys. Release the tensioner, and reconnect the battery.

What would cause the power steering to suddenly stop working on a 1992 Cadillac Eldorado?

your serpentine belt came off probably I just bought a 1996 Eldorado with this same problem. The car won't overheat because there is another belt and tensioner on the other side of the engine for this. Check the belt tensioner the spring probably broke causing the serpentine belt to be loose and fling off.

How do you replace the serpentine belt on a 1999 Buick LeSabre?

There is a spring-loaded tensioner pulley that keeps tension on the belt. The tensioner should have a place to fit a ratchet wrench or breaker bar (may or may not need a socket). The tensioner bar rotates clockwise or counterclockwise to release the tension on the belt. Be sure and note how the belt is routed so you will install the new belt in the same pattern. The tensioner is self-adjusting.
