Its an antibiotic, its commonly used for bacterial infections. Its also used for Chlamydia, so you might want to check with your girl/boy ;)
In the statement, which was released Sunday, IHU-Méditerranée Infection described the treatment protocol for COVID-19 patients. “A treatment with the hydroxychloroquine combination (200 mg x 3 per day for 10 days) + Azithromycin (500 mg on the 1st day then 250 mg per day for 5 more days), as part of the precautions for use of this association (including an electrocardiogram on D0 and D2)," they write, in the translated statement. “In cases of severe pneumonia, a broad-spectrum antibiotic is also used.”
Azithromycin. there is a medications with azithromycin contains only 3 tablets with 500mg for each, and you take them at a period of 3 days, instead of 2 weeks like the rest of Anti-Biotics.
Yes, you can. I have been taking singulair once a day for about a year now along with clarinex-d for the same amount of time. I was just given azithromycin 3 days ago and have been taking that as well for a respiratory infection. No side effects at all.
You should wait some time after stopping azithromycin before receiving immunizations. When studied, azithromycin inhibits the ability of the immune system to build a lasting response to vaccines, probably by altering the activity of macrophages and other antigen presenting cells and the expressions of cytokines, including TNF-alpha. See "Azithromycin Modulates Murine Immune Responses to Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine and Inhibits Nasal Clearance of Bacteria" While this is a different vaccine, it's reasonable to at least extrapolate that there may be a need for caution in coadministration of azithromycin and vaccines. Azithromycin has a long half life in the body - almost 3 days - so you should give it some time before receiving the vaccine, I'd guess 2 weeks minimum, although it depends on your dosage and how long you've been taking the medication.
I was at my Dr. yesterday and was advised that a 5 day pack of Azithromycin stays in your body for 10 days total. So after you take your 5th pill (assuming that you are on the 5 day pack), you have 5 more days of the drug working in your system. She said it has a delayed release effect and that is why it is still effective 5 days after the last dose.
Two or three days wouldn't be long enough for the antibiotic to properly work
You must take azithromycin with a full glass of water.
